Regina Caeli, laetare, alleluia.
Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia.
Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia.
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.

Gaude et laetare, Virgo Maria, alleluia.
Quia surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia.

Oremus. Amen.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen! Rejoice, fellow Christians! Today’s the most joyous day of the whole year. Rejoice!

Christianity, feasts, Mary, Our Lord

Happy Feast of the Annunciation!

The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Behold, the handmaid of the Lord.

Be it done unto me according to thy word.
(At the enchantment of this virginal phrase, the Word became flesh – St. Josemaria Escriva)

And the Word was made flesh.

And dwelt among us.

I picked this image of the Annunciation because I like the little household details in it. And I like the image of light shining through her window.

Today was also known, I believe, as “Lady Day” in England. Isn’t that charming? And among us Tolkien fans, it’s known as the Downfall of Mordor and New Year’s Day in Middle-Earth.
